My Loft

My lofts aren't flash, but are very functional, built as they are into an existing outbuilding at the end of a very long SE facing garden.

The loft sections have been kitted out with Nest Boxes and Box perches from RV Woodcraft, plus V-Perches in the YB section. Entry and exit to the loft is via bob-wired portals. I race my pigeons as naturally as I can, and the pigeons are trained vigorously throughout Spring and Summer. I get all my feed and preventative medicines from Gem Supplements in Chichester.

I do treat for canker and wormd, and keep the lofts disinfected with Virkon S which I think is a fantastic product.

I contracted a very bad bout of pigeon fancier's lung when aged 40 at the end of 2002 and since then have had to wear a mask in the loft at all times. The birds don't really mind and moreover the mask keeps me healthy!

Personally, once training begins I'm far less inclined to let the pigeons out for two very good reasons:-
1) I don't wish to attract the daily attention of hawks and/or cats!
2) They get all the exercise they need from the regular training flights provided to them
